Internews' Earth Journalism Network (EJN), through its Media for Inclusive Green Growth (MIGG) project in Nepal, is offering two seed grants of 4,500 euros each to media outlets in Nepal to support new media programming on natural resource management and green growth. Funded by the European Union, the grants aim to increase the capacity of Nepali media to provide innovative, solutions-oriented information on these topics to the public and policymakers. The call highlights Nepal's urgent need for such coverage, citing climate-induced hazards affecting approximately 75,840 people annually and the potential loss of up to 2.2% of the country's annual GDP to climate change impacts by 2050.The grants are intended to seed new programs, columns, or sections—or integrate these themes into existing popular programs—rather than fund a regular reporting series or fellowship. Selected media outlets will each design and pilot a new program, producing at least two stories or episodes as proof of concept during the grant period. Along with funding, grantees will receive mentorship from EJN staff. Eligible applicants include newspapers, online media, radio, television, multimedia platforms, and social media channels based in Nepal. Each outlet may submit only one application, and grantees selected from the first and second cohorts (2024 and 2025 seed grant calls) are not eligible. Applications are accepted in English and Nepali only. Applicants must submit a simple budget using EJN's provided template with justification for the requested amount, a signed letter of support on official letterhead confirming the outlet will publish the resulting content, and two samples of relevant work or report links. Published work must acknowledge EJN support with a specified tagline. The application deadline is February 15, 2026. Questions or difficulties should be directed to [email protected]—no other Internews email will receive inquiries about this opportunity. Late applications will not be considered.
