Project Assistant/ Rec

  • Deadline: Feb 27, 2026

This vacancy (Job ID 31082) is for a Project Assistant/Receptionist (NPSA-5) with UNDP under the Nature, Climate and Energy practice area, based full-time in Kathmandu, Nepal. The position is a National Personnel Service Agreement for one year with possibility of extension, posted on 4 February 2026 with an application deadline of 18 February 2026. It requires fluency in Nepali and English, with eligibility of either a high school certificate plus 5 years of relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience. The role supports a USD 50 million GCF-financed project aimed at reducing Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) risks in Nepal, implemented under the National Implementation Modality with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) as the implementing partner.
The project addresses escalating climate risks caused by glacial retreat and rising temperatures, particularly in high-risk lakes such as Thulagi, Lower Barun, Lumding Tsho, and Hongu 2, which threaten the Gandaki, Dudhkoshi, and Arun basins. The initiative focuses on lowering lake water levels, applying eco-disaster risk reduction measures, establishing early warning systems, and strengthening DHM’s institutional and technical capacity. A Project Management Unit (PMU) based in Kathmandu will oversee planning, budgeting, procurement, reporting, audits, safeguards monitoring, and coordination across government entities, with UNDP supporting recruitment and oversight.
The Project Assistant/Receptionist will provide day-to-day operational, administrative, coordination, and front-desk support, including document and registry management, logistics for events and field missions, procurement and inventory support, stakeholder communication, data collection, and reporting aligned with UNDP and donor requirements. The role also contributes to monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, visibility, and integration of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and safeguarding principles. Reporting to the Administrative and Finance Analyst within the PMU, the position requires strong MS Office and ICT skills, experience in administrative or development settings, familiarity with procurement and reporting processes, and competencies aligned with UNDP’s core values of results orientation, adaptability, inclusion, and partnership. UNDP emphasizes equal opportunity, zero tolerance for misconduct, and reserves the right to select multiple candidates or retain applications for similar roles.
