About PhotoVogue and the Global Open Call:

PhotoVogue is Vogue Italia's global photography platform — one of the world's most prestigious visual arts platforms. Each year, PhotoVogue launches a Global Open Call inviting photographers and video makers worldwide to submit work that engages with the present through original visual storytelling.

The 2026 edition, "Brave New Visions: Creativity as Rebellion," embraces creativity as an act of rebellion — inviting artists to use image-making to challenge indifference, disrupt conventions, and expand visual storytelling. PhotoVogue seeks work that expresses a clear point of view, whether through ideas explored, emotions evoked, or the strength of visual language.

What They're Looking For:

Work that resists indifference and engages meaningfully with the present world. A clear point of view — conceptual depth, emotional resonance, or powerful visual language. Challenging conventions — pushing beyond expected narratives and aesthetics. All genres welcome: fashion, documentary, portraiture, fine art, experimental practices. Original work only — AI-generated content is NOT eligible.

Submission Format:

  • Photography: Up to 15 images per submission.
  • Video: 60-second trailer.
  • Multimedia: Combination of images and video.
  • All submissions must demonstrate originality and a strong visual language.

Three Grants + Beyond Money:

  • $6,000 Outstanding Vision Grant — an artist whose work expands the boundaries of visual language.
  • $4,000 Vision Grant — an artist with a strong and singular perspective.
  • $2,000 Rising Voice Grant — an emerging artist whose work shows clarity, originality, and promise.

Selected artists also receive:

  • Exhibition at the next edition of PhotoVogue Festival in Milan.
  • Opportunity to be published across Vogue's global editions — extraordinary exposure.
  • Participation in PhotoVogue Virtual Portfolio Reviews — professional development.

Nepal Eligibility and Relevance:

Nepal is fully eligible — the call is open to all artists aged 18+ worldwide with no geographic restrictions. Submission is free.
Nepal has a growing documentary photography and visual arts community producing internationally acclaimed work.

Nepal's rich visual landscape — from Himalayan peaks to Kathmandu Valley heritage, from Terai communities to mountain cultures — provides extraordinary material for compelling visual storytelling.

Nepal Visual Stories That Could Succeed:

  • Documentary:

Life in communities adapting to climate change — glacier retreat, flood-prone rivers, changing agriculture.

The human cost of migration — families separated, empty villages, returnees.

Post-earthquake rebuilding — communities reconstructing heritage, lives, and identity.

Caste, gender, and identity — visual exploration of social structures and their disruption.

Festival and ritual life — Indra Jatra, Dashain, Tihar, Holi as living cultural expression.

  • Portraiture:

Faces of Nepal's diversity — 125+ ethnic groups, 123 languages.

Women leaders — from community forestry chairs to parliament members.

Ageing artisans — last practitioners of traditional crafts.

Migrant workers — before departure, abroad, upon return.

  • Fine Art/Experimental:

Kathmandu Valley transformation — urbanisation consuming heritage.

Mountain and light — Nepal's dramatic landscapes as visual meditation.

Sacred and profane — the collision of traditional and modern in everyday Nepal.

Climate and landscape — documenting environmental transformation through artistic lens.

  • Fashion:

Nepal's textile traditions — dhaka, pashmina, Tharu weaving — reimagined. C

ontemporary Nepali fashion designers using traditional materials.

Street style in Kathmandu — youth culture, identity, self-expression.
