Deadline:
Jul 20, 2026About DCA & the Challenge:
DanChurchAid (DCA) is a Danish development and humanitarian organization working with poor, vulnerable, and socially excluded communities across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, with all Nepal interventions under a Climate Action umbrella and Gender Equality as a cross-cutting commitment. DCA Nepal is running the Youth Innovation Challenge 2026 to promote youth-led innovation in climate action, green enterprise, and the circular economy, as a pilot initiative in Bagmati Province.
What the Challenge Funds:
Selected winners receive a support package: seed support for innovation development, technical mentoring and coaching, networking and partnership opportunities, and visibility through DCA Nepal and partner networks. Applications should address one or more thematic areas: sustainable urban and community-based solutions; green enterprise and green jobs; and circular economy solutions.
Who Can Apply:
Youth aged 18–35 (women up to 40), youth-led startups and enterprises, and social enterprises in Bagmati Province. Each team must include at least one female member, and priority goes to women-led, climate-responsive, and socially inclusive initiatives.
Process & Timeline:
Teams submit a maximum two-page concept note by email (based@dca.dk) by July 20, 2026. Applications are screened and shortlisted (each team must include at least one woman); shortlisted teams receive mentorship, technical guidance, and networking support; selected participants pitch to a panel of judges; and outstanding innovations are recognized and awarded at the final event around International Youth Day at the end of August 2026. Selection criteria: innovation/creativity, relevance to themes, feasibility and sustainability, and social inclusion/gender responsiveness.
Nepal Relevance & Context:
This is a clean, directly applyable opportunity for young Nepali innovators — a strong fit for Avasarharu's youth, startup, and social-enterprise audience. It is open and low-barrier (a two-page concept note, no registration or fees), addresses high-priority themes (climate, green jobs, circular economy), and offers both seed funding and valuable mentorship/visibility. The two main considerations: it is geographically limited to Bagmati Province, and the exact seed-support amount is not stated (confirm with DCA Nepal).
Who Should Apply:
Bagmati-based youth teams (18–35; women to 40), youth-led startups, and social enterprises — especially women-led and socially inclusive ventures — with an innovative, feasible idea in climate action, green enterprise/green jobs, or the circular economy.
